Prof.V.C.Vivekanandan is currently the Vice Chancellor of Hidayatyllah National Law University at Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He was Founder Dean of the School of Law at Bennett University in 2017-2019, established by the Times of India Group. He also served as the Dean of the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law at IIT Kharagpur in 2009-10.
He holds a BSc Degree, Bachelor of Laws degree, Master’s in Public Administration, Master’s degree in Law, MPhil in Public Administration and a PhD in Intellectual Property Laws. He teaches IPR/Internet Law and Business Laws.
He was the MHRD IP Chair Professor and Director of NALSAR Proximate Education at NALSAR University of Law at Hyderabad in 2007-2019. He serves as the Adjunct Visiting Faculty of the Business School of SUNY New York since 2007 for its Business Law programmes. He was designated as the Legal expert for negotiations for the Special Session on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) at Geneva and represented India in 2013-2015.
Prof.Vivekanandan was elected as the Asia Pacific member of the At Large Committee (ALAC) of Internet Corporation of Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN) the world body, which manages domain names as part of Internet Governance. He also served as the Nominating Committee member of ICANN between 2010-2011, which oversees the selection of Board Members of the ICANN. At NALSAR he founded the Global Internet Governance & Advocacy Institute (GIGA) in 2010.
Prof.Vivekanandan also was the founder Director of the Legal Information Institute of India and served between 2011-2013.
He is also the recipient of prestigious awards like the Environmental Law Champions Development Award from Asian Development Bank, Philippines and the Best Social Scientist Award from the Indian Society of Criminology.
He had travelled around the globe extensively and had the privilege of being invited to deliver lectures at 23 premier Universities in various countries.
